Stainless Steel Rotary Valve
304 / 316L construction for corrosive powders, chemicals and washdown areas.
Plastics & Chemicals
Plastics and chemicals cover the widest range of material behaviour: free-flowing pellets that must not be damaged, fine powders that aerate and flood, pigments that stain, and corrosive products that attack carbon steel. One valve design cannot serve all of them, but the same engineering questions apply.
Request a QuoteThe priority here is product integrity and clean discharge. Deep-pocket drop-through geometry, rounded and polished internals and a low rotor speed keep attrition down. Where the pellet is soft or the line runs at high rate, we check the tip clearance and the discharge transition for shear points that create fines and streamers.
Fine chemical powders aerate badly and leak past a worn clearance quickly, so closed rotors, tight clearance and purgeable seals are specified. Pigments stain, which makes cleanability a design requirement: hinged covers, quick-release rotors and polished contact surfaces.
Acids, chlorides and oxidising salts attack carbon steel and standard seals. 316L bodies, stainless shafts and appropriate elastomers are the baseline; where the material is also abrasive, wear protection is added to the stainless build rather than replacing it.
Discharge from reactors, dryers and centrifuges often involves a temperature and a vapour load that a standard packing gland will not handle. We review the temperature, the vapour and the required seal life with you before choosing between packing, lip seal, mechanical seal and gas-purged arrangements.
